Maria del Sol Fortea Sevilla,; Maria Olga Escandell Bermúdez, José Juan Castro Sánchez,
AbstractIn this article we focus our attention on the prevalence of autism as it is important to know how many people may be affected in order to provide them with the most appropriate services and to meet their needs from the outset. In recent years there have been plenty of studies providing data about people affected by autism in different parts of the world. The results are not conclusive due to various reasons, including the fact that the samples used are from different records; many different diagnostic procedures, different experimental designs, different diagnostic ages, advances in early detection, etc. Despite all, we can draw provisional conclusions and say that 60-70 people in l0,000 could be affected by some form of autism.
