M. Carmen Torres Medina, Virginia González Cañón, Sixto Cubo Delgado
AbstractThe University of Extremadura (UEX) and the Public Employment Service of Extremadura (SEXPE) have created the Office of Labour Guidance to promote a rapprochement between educational institutions and employers. The aim of this agreement is to develop lines of action that favors the employment of students and the graduates of the University of Extremadura. In this study are analyzes the differences of attitudes to the job search of students and graduates of the UEX who have been served by the office Labour Guidance. The sample consisted by 96 students and graduates of the University of Extremadura. The instrument used was an adaptation of the Attitudes Questionnaire to Job Search (ABE) developed and validated by Llorens, Beas y Cifre (2000). The results indicate that users with a positive attitude towards the job search increase your employability after the orientation sessions. No significant differences exist in the gender variable and the age variable in connection with the attitude toward the job search. Of the three factors studied, the intention in the search (Intention Instrumental) and the perception and the ability to search and find employment (self-efficacy), are those that have high scores. In the variable “emotional attribution” opposite occurs producing, therefore, a decrease in the score on attitude toward the job search. These conclusions suggests that in the itineraries of individual insertion should be paid special attention to the variable “emotional attribution” like a variable facilitator in the labor market incorporation.
