EL ROL DE LOS PADRES EN LA TRANSMISIÓN DE VALORES: LA VIGENCIA DEL VALOR DEL RESPETO

AbstractThis research is focused in the concept of values and their priority, with special attention to the value of respect and how this value is transmitted inside a family. Based on qualitative evidence obtained through parents interviews, the main results highlights that the interviewed perceived the education in values as a permanent element in people’s lives, and those values are highly considerate, because they allow to built trajectories in the individuals life’s. Although they consider that the values are acquired by heritage, the interviewed parents also acknowledge the existence of a process of individual selection, in which some inherited values are discarded and other new values acquired take their place. Considering the hierarchy of values in their lives, most of the people interviewed points out as relevant: the respect, the family, the love and the affection. It is also relevant the conviction of the parents about the responsibility of the family as a transmitting institution of the value of Respect, mainly through examples or role-model conducts, and the perception of low support that they feel from the society and from other institutions in this transmitting labor.
