Abstract

In times of crisis, the economic and social inequalities emerge and the changes are only possi-ble with great commitment, knowledge and awareness of problems requiring changes in attitudes based on respect and collaboration, and sharing work. The intervention of the institutions is essen-tial in supporting and communities, families in need and at risk groups. This study examines the influence of religion on their satisfaction with life in 822 Portuguese aged between 12 and 90 years. We measured religiosity (attitude, orientation and spiritual well-being) and well-being (life satisfac-tion and positive and negative affect). We can conclude that those who are Catholic, attending church more, pray more, have more favorable attitudes toward Christianity, have higher religious well-being, are more satisfied with life and are more enthusiastic, attentive and caring, stimulated, strong and emotional. Sex and age also affects girls and women have more favorable attitudes to Christianity, more frequent religious sites and have more satisfaction with life. The elderly have high-er religiosity (intrinsic, organizational and non organizational) and are not more satisfied with life.
