Abstract
The current economic situation and the high number of unemployed in Spain leads us to study the consequences of the crisis has both individual and family. In the present study is a longitudinal study of 34 months duration in which analyzes the relationship between unemployment, the level of conflict within the family and the perceived health of the unemployed. The study involved 377 unem ployed in the first instance and 103 subjects in the second stage of research, aged between 16 and 65. The results show that a high percentage of unemployed must apply for help from family to cope with their economic situation. Moreover, the health of the unemployed is significantly worse than that presented subjects with work. With regard to family relationships, the results indicate that unemployment causes family conflicts and favors an increase in behavioral problems in children.
