Abstract
In the share of the educative design, we can field two fundamental systems, having very concrete aims and being interwined in the expectation of a true development of the human being in what concerns his social dimension: the family and the school.
Both old a set of valves, images, messages, actions and rules, so it becomes essential that the huge disparaty of functions, peculiar to them in the several spheres, may be shared so that new generations can be educated and prepared through a critical reflection about culture and knowledge.
As the present society is dominated by the information, the family and the school must be attentive to the education of youngsters, being, thus, forced to decode the big quality of cultural messages they come across everyday. Having as a primordial aim to make an investigation on the present situation as to the relationship between the school and the family in the 2º and 3º cycles – From five to nine years of schooling. This study tries to inquire into the expectations that parents and teachers have about this relationship.
To achieve this aim, this study is divided into two essential parts:
-The theoretical foundation with a thoroughly examination of some concepts such as Education- Tuition, School-Family (their functions), Motivation, Satisfaction – Dissatisfaction, Participation and Communication.
The investigation in the field using two questionnaires ( one given to the teachers, the other to the parents of these teacher’s students).
This investigation ends up with the comparison of the results obtained with the ones by other authors, their respective conclusions and some reflections and interpretations.
